Chatham Anglers
The month of July brings about all-star games at almost every level of amateur and professional baseball. This year was no different.

On a professional level the A's would like to especially note the inclusion of first-time All-Start, Mike MacDougal (1998) to the American League squad. Mike has had a terrific rookie year as the closer for the upstart Kansas City Royals. Mike should also be a strong candidate for Rookie of the Year honors. In addition to MacDougal, the National League squad included A's Alumni, Mike Lowell (1994) of the Florida Marlins. Mike is having an exceptional season for his hometown Marlins and has become a great power hitter, being innthe top offensive categories among National League positional players. Finally, congratulations to Jeff Bagwell (1988,1989) on becoming the first former Cape Leaguer to pass the 400 career home run mark. All of us are looking forward to the day that Jeff becomes the first former CCBL player to eclipse the magical 500 career home run mark.

The A's placed four players on the CCBL East All-Star Squad. Pitcher, Glenn Swanson (UC Irvine) was named the starting pitcher for the East All-Stars. Glenn is currently 5-0. Also named to the squad were Ryan Klosterman (Vanderbilt), Jeff Frazier (Rutgers), and closer Zane Carlson (Baylor).

With many major league scouts looking on over the past few weeks, and especially at the All-Star game, we all hope that it is only a matter of a few years before all A's fans can say, "we remember when........."
