A's Open Season Friday Night
The wait is over.

A's fans will get their first look at the 2007 squad Friday night in Harwich. First pitch for the A's and Mariners is set for 7pm at Whitehouse Field.

Matt Giannini (Rutgers) makes the season opening start for Chatham. This is the New Jersey native's second year with the A's. In 2006, Giannini worked mostly out of the bullpen, recording a 4.03 ERA in 22.1 innings.

The Mariners finished last in the Eastern Division in 2006 with a 20-24 record, 2 games behind the fourth place A's. Mariner returners include infielder Johnny Giavotella (New Orleans) and pitcher P.J. Zocchi (Clemson). Giovatella shined for the Privateers in his sophomore season, hitting .385 with 15 home runs and 65 RBIs. Last year on the Cape, Zocchi pitched to an impressive 2.87 ERA.

The A's head back to Veteran's Field for their home opener on Saturday night against the 2006 Cape League Champion Y-D Red Sox. All A's home games start at 7pm.

All 2007 A's games can be heard on the internet through ChathamA's.com or at CCBL.Cape.com. They can also be heard by phone at 508-296-4201 (Team Code 22).
