A's Fall 4-3 in Fog Shortened Affair
Brewster Whitecap Blake Tekotte (Miami) hit a game-winning home run in sixth and the game was called after six and a half as Chatham lost 4-3 in a back and forth affair at Veteran's Field.

Tekotte's mammoth blast came against Kevin Couture (USC) with two outs, nobody on and the score tied at three. The A's were sent down 1-2-3 in the sixth by Brewster reliever Lee Land (UNC-Greensboro), which turned out to be their last turn at-bat.

After Chatham starter Ryan Hinson (Clemson) gave up an unearned run in the top of the second, the A's came back to take the lead with two in the bottom half of the inning. Sean O'Brien (Virginia Tech) and Tim Federowicz (UNC) drew back-to-back walks to start the rally and moved to second and third on a Kevin McAvoy (Maine) sacrifice bunt. Allan Dykstra (Wake) drove in the first run with a groundout and then Gregg Glime (Baylor) doubled into the left centerfield gap to give the A's a 2-1 lead.

Brewster would come right back and tie it in the third on a Ryan Babineau (UCLA) RBI single. Hinson escaped the inning with two straight strikeouts and stranded the go-ahead runs on base.

Chatham grabbed another lead in the fourth on a Kevin McAvoy (Maine) solo shot over the right field fence and onto the hill at Veteran's Field.

In the fifth, Hinson walked leadoff batter Yonder Alonso (Miami) and his night was over. In came Zach Putnam (Michigan), making his first appearance as a pitcher, and he gave up a single to David Doss (South Alabama) that drove in Alonso, who had stolen second and moved to third on a wild pitch.

The score remained 3-3 until Tekotte broke the tie with his homerun in the sixth.

After an off day Tuesday, Chatham is back in action Wednesday in Hyannis. Trey Watten (Abilene Christian) makes his first start for Chatham and will be opposed by Matt Daly (Hawaii).
