Gatemen Bats Heat Up, Beat A's 9-3
Wareham earned a split in their second matchup of the week with the A's with a 9-3 win Friday at Veterans Field. Chatham starter Carmine Giardina was roughed up early, as the Gatemen took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They added four more in the second, only two of which were earned. With two outs, Ryan Pineda grounded to short, but Grant Green's throw sailed over the head of Kyle Bellows, prolonging the inning and allowing Brett Eibner's RBI double, and Aaron Baker's RBI single. That was it for Giardina, as John Folino came on and struck out Kip Schutz to end the inning.

WIth a 5-0 lead, the Gatemen made it 7-0 in the top of the third, as Cole Leonida homered to right, his first of the season. The A's managed to get on the board in the bottom of the inning, as Grant Green doubled to left center, scoring Cory Olson. Trailing 8-1 after 4, Chatham scratched out two more runs against starter Matt Way in the bottom of the 5th. Cory Olson led with a single, and with two outs, Victor Sanchez narrowly missed a home run, doubling to left. Cory Olson scored on the play. The next batter, Kyle Bellows, singled in Sanchez.
