Rain at Wareham's Spillane Field forced the postponement of Saturday's game between the A's and Gatemen. The two teams will now play at 1 PM on Thursday in Wareham. For the A's, that game will be the first half of a doubleheader, as they take on the Orleans Cardinals at Eldredge Park in the regular season finale at 7 PM. The schedule is further complicated, due to the fact that the doubleheader Thursday will be Chatham's second in four days, as they will face the Harwich Mariners and Cotuit Kettleers on Monday.
The matchup between Chatham and Wareham was the only one in the league to be postponed, and the games that were played saw other Eastern Division opponents gain playoff standing on Chatham in the tight race for postseason baseball. Harwich defeated Orleans 3-1, snapping a six game slide and moving four points ahead of Chatham, sitting in second place. Brewster also was victorious, as the Whitecaps used a ten-run seventh inning to defeat Cotuit 12-4. The Whitecaps, with 38 points, are in third place, two points behind Harwich, and two points ahead of the A's.
The A's return home Sunday, as they meet the Y-D Red Sox at Veterans Field for a 7 PM start. Live pregame coverage begins at 6:40 on chathamas.com
