Win Streak Ends at Six For Chatham

Chatham Anglers
The Bourne Braves visited Chatham Friday night hyped up for a game against the best team in the league. Their pitching staff did not disappoint, blanking the Anglers 4-0.

Bourne starter Turner Phelps pitched six shutout innings striking out nine and letting up just two hits.

The Braves got on the board in the fifth inning with a solo home run by Cody Freeman over the centerfield wall. Outfielder Addison Johnson gave his best effort as he ended up falling over the centerfield fence in his attempt to snag the homerun.

That run proved to be all the Braves needed but they tacked on another run in the sixth inning. Then in the ninth a Jeff Schaus error in leftfield scored two more runs for Bourne.

While Chatham could not get its offense going all game, the pitching staff was strong in the loss. Only one run was earned and three Anglers pitchers made their 2009 summer debut. Jesse Hahn, Patrick Johnson, and Ryan Leach combined for five innings with no earned runs and seven strikeouts.
