Chatham first baseman Rick Oropesa has been named the first Cape Cod League Player of the Week of the 2010 season.
Over the opening week of the season Oropesa batted .304 with a .429 on-base percentage and a .609 slugging percentage. The highlight of Oropesa's week came in the Anglers' home opener on June 16 against Orleans when the USC Trojan belted a three-run walkoff home run over the right field fence to propel the team to a 5-2 victory, and a 3-0 record. He finished the week with a league-leading two home runs and seven RBI.
The sophomore led the Trojans this past season in the Triple Crown categories, batting .353 (83-for-235) with 20 home runs and 67 RBI. He hit 22 doubles, recorded a .711 slugging percentage and led the team with seven stolen bases. He was also named a Baseball America Second Team All-American.
Chatham hosts Bourne tomorrow at 7PM. The Anglers Extra Pregame Show is on-air at 6:40PM.
