Chatham's 44-game regular season begins June 14 on the road against the Wareham Gatemen at 7 p.m. The following night, June 15, the Anglers open the 90th season of baseball at Veterans Field with a 7 p.m. contest against the Cotuit Kettleers. Four of Chatham's first six games will be played at home, where all contests begin at 7 p.m.

The 2012 season begins four calendar days later than it did in 2011 (June 14 vs. June 10) in an effort to cut down on the record-high 159 temporary players utilized by CCBL teams last year. The CCBL has eliminated scheduled double headers (Chatham had two in 2011), while including 10 off days during the regular season. Chatham's full schedule is listed at right.

Chatham battles each West Division team (Bourne, Cotuit, Falmouth, Hyannis and Wareham) four times, and each East Division team (Brewster, Harwich, Orleans and Yarmouth-Dennis) six times. The Chatham-Orleans rivalry features three home-and-home series in 2012, including the traditional Independence Day matchups July 3 in Chatham and July 4 in Orleans, plus July 18 in Chatham and July 19 in Orleans, and finally the last two games of the regular season August 6 in Orleans and August 7 in Chatham.

The 2012 season marks several pertinent anniversaries: the town of Chatham celebrates its 300th birthday, the non-profit Chatham Athletic Association enjoys its 50th season, John Schiffner manages his 20th season as Chatham skipper, and the Cape Cod Baseball Network airs live play-by-play of Chatham games for the 10th summer.

The CCBL has again approved an eight-team postseason format with best-of-three series for all three rounds of playoffs. The postseason starts August 9 with a CCBL champion crowned no later than August 17.

The Cape Cod Baseball League's All-Star game will be played July 28, at a site to be determined, but not at Fenway Park as had been the case the last three years. The last venue to host an All-Star game on the Cape was Chatham's Veterans Field in 2008.
