CHATHAM, Mass.— Anyone who took a tour around Chatham on Monday was likely to see a group of plainly-clothed Anglers enjoying time with each other on their off day. One group headed out on a boat to go fishing, another went to the middle school to try their hands at some casual tennis, and yet another went out to explore the Cape Cod Mall. At night, almost all of them found their way to a television to watch Chatham alums Todd Frazier and Kris Bryant hit in the Home Run Derby, a competition which Frazier ultimately won. Reenergized and rejuvenated, the Anglers (16-12) now turn back to what they do best—playing baseball.

Tonight the face the Brewster Whitecaps (14-14) 5 p.m. at Stony Brook Field. While most of the Anglers’ fishing and tennis skills may only be generously characterized as average, their skills on the baseball diamond have certainly been shining brightly over the last week. They have won six of their last eight, and their approach to winning on the field can be described in the same way as their approach to enjoying an off day—team-oriented.

“This team really gets along very well,” said Manager John Schiffner. “They support one another, and they pull for one another. If a guy does something as minor as getting a bunt down, the whole dugout is up and guys in the bullpen are high fiving.”

Tonight the Anglers will look to lean on that same team-oriented approach when Parker Dunshee (Wake Forest) is expected to take the mound. The right-hander is 3-1 with a 2.82 ERA through his first four starts on the summer. A strike-throwing machine, Dunshee gets ahead of 75% of the batters he faces and throws his overall number of strikes at the same percentage.

Brewster will likely call on Alec Rash (Missouri) to counter. The likewise right-handed Rash has not recorded a win this summer, but the Whitecaps have won every game he has appeared in. Tuesday’s would be his second start and fifth appearance of the season.

Following the conclusion of the contest against Brewster, three former Chatham A’s will represent their respective leagues in the 2015 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Rookie phenome Kris Bryant (Chatham 2011) will back up Home Run Derby champion Todd Frazier (Chatham 2005, 2006) at the National League’s hot corner, and Tampa Bay Rays closer Brad Boxberger (Chatham 2008) may face both of them on the hill while he represents the American League. That broadcast begins 7 p.m. on Fox.
