The Los Angeles Dodgers used the 35th overall pick to select Louisville’s Kyle Funkhouser (2013, Team USA 2014) in the 2015 MLB Draft on Monday night. He was the second Angler selected.
Funkhouser recorded 4 saves for Chatham during the summer of 2013 before going on to re-sign with the team and play for College Team USA in 2014. Funkhouser was 8-5 with an ERA of 3.20 in collegiate play for the Louisville Cardinals this season.
In 2013 Funkhouser was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. In 2014 he was selected as a: First-Team ABCA All-American, Second-Team Louisville Slugger All-American, Second-Team NCBWA All-American, Third-Team Baseball America All-American, and Third-Team Perfect Game All-American. In 2015 he has already been named a Third-Team Louisville Slugger All-American and is awaiting the rest of the All-American polls.
