Chatham, Mass. — The Anglers (1-0) will face the Bourne Braves (0-1) tonight at Doran Park, Bourne.
Last night, the Anglers topped the Falmouth Commodores (0-1) 8-7 in the season opener. Starter Justin Lasko (Massachusetts - Amherst) limited Falmouth to two earned runs with five strikeouts over 5.1 innings, while Jacob Olson (South Carolina) paced the team with two RBIs, including a home run.
Chatham’s ability to generate so much offense at an early stage of the season is a source of optimism for the team, said field manager John Schiffner.
“There were a lot of things that you [can] build on,” Schiffner said.
The Braves fell to Cotuit (1-0) 5-3 in a close matchup Wednesday. Bourne starter Tim Cate (Connecticut) allowed two earned runs, throwing seven strikeouts over six innings.
Historically, Bourne and Chatham have maintained a split record over the past two seasons. The teams finished 2015 and 2016 with a 2-2 slate.
The Braves earned their first ever Cape League title in 2009, and have not won the championship since.
First pitch at Bourne is scheduled for 6 p.m. Listen to the live broadcast here: http://www.teamline.cc/sportpage'teamcode=3841&eventcode=5
