Chatham, Mass. — The Anglers (6-8) return to Stony Brook Field tonight to face the Brewster Whitecaps (7-6-1) for the second time in two days.
Last night, Chatham suffered an 11-1 loss to the Whitecaps, despite leading the game in hits 9-7.
Adam Hill (South Carolina) took the loss, allowing two earned runs with two strikeouts over 4.0 innings. Joe Lienhard (Oklahoma State), Ryan Hedrick (Presbyterian), Andre Pallante (California — Irvine) and Josiah Gray (Le Moyne) combined for 4.0 innings of relief.
Tony Locey (Georgia) denied Chatham with seven strikeouts over 5.0 scoreless innings. Robert Broom (Mercer) and Paul Milto (Indiana) completed the game in relief.
“We need to be consistent and we were not,” said manager John Schiffner. “We played a really good ball game last night ... and today we came out and we didn’t play well at all in any aspect of the game.”
Left-handed pitcher Cameron Bishop (California — Irvine) will make his Cape League debut for Chatham tonight. Before missing the 2017 season due to injury, Bishop had a successful sophomore season with the Anteaters, throwing 79 strikeouts over 70.1 innings. He finished 2016 with a career ERA of 4.59.
Prior to besting the Anglers 11-1 Wednesday, the Whitecaps fell fell to the Falmouth Commodores (8-7) 7-1 Tuesday. The Whitecaps dropped a game against Bourne (7-6) 5-3 Monday.
