Chatham, Mass. — Five Anglers have been named to the East Division team for the 2017 Friendly’s Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game, taking place at Clem Spillane Field, Wareham July 22.
Shea Langeliers (Baylor), Jacob Olson (South Carolina), Josh Shaw (St. John’s), Jeremy Peña (Maine) and Jack DeGroat (Liberty) will represent Chatham in the contest.
The rosters were announced Saturday, July 15 after a meeting of the league’s ten coaches at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.
Catcher Langeliers and outfielder Olson will start for the East team. Both have been key starters for Chatham this season. Langeliers leads the Anglers with 19 RBIs and five home runs over twenty starts, while Olson has paced the team with 14 RBIs and two home runs in 23 games.
Shaw is ranked twelfth in the league for batting average, notching a .321 record with 14 RBIs over 21 starts as second baseman.
Peña has hit a .269 in 23 games as shortstop, driving in nine RBIs with two home runs.
Pitcher DeGroat is one of two Anglers to maintain a 0.00 ERA this season, allowing just two hits over nine scoreless innings.
First pitch on July 22 is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Gates open to the public at 2 p.m.
