Letter from the broadcast booth

Opening day is finally upon us, and we’re excited to welcome you to another season of Chatham Anglers baseball. The A’s open their season tonight in Hyannis and host their home opener on Wednesday against Falmouth.

This season’s Chatham media team consists of students from Arizona State, Syracuse and the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

Cooper Boardman and Josh Schaefer return to the broadcast booth and will share the play-by-play duties for a second summer, while Anthony Dabbundo and KJ Edelman will serve as the Anglers’ beat writers. Karli Matthias be the team’s photographer, and Michaela McMillan is Chatham’s videographer. The Anglers reached the Cape League Championship series in 2018, their first title appearance since 2001, and we are thrilled to cover the team for its 97th season. Here’s what you need to know about your voices for the summer:

Cooper Boardman recently completed his sophomore year at Syracuse University, where he has covered SU football, basketball, lacrosse and softball. He is the sports director for WJPZ-FM and works on the sports staff for WAER-FM, Syracuse’s student radio stations.

Josh Schaefer just finished his junior year at Arizona State University, where he has served as a broadcaster for Sun Devils baseball, softball and ice hockey on the Pac-12 Digital Networks, and basketball and football on KASC Blaze Radio, ASU’s local radio station.

After broadcasting all 50 regular season and postseason games for the Anglers in 2018, it was an easy decision to return for a second summer.

We are thrilled to bring you every pitch of the 2019 season. You can listen to every pitch for free, thanks to TRZ Teamline. You can tune in to all 44 regular season games by dialing 1-800-847-4700, code 3841, on your telephone, or listen online at “Broadcast Central” on chathamanglers.com. New, enhanced video streams will be available this season for all home games to supplement Chatham’s audio broadcasts. All broadcasts (home and away) begin 20 minutes prior to first pitch with the Anglers Extra Pregame show, which features the Manager’s Show with Tom Holliday and the Catch of the Day player interviews. The Chatham Bars Inn Anglers Extra Postgame Show follows the end of the game and includes live interviews, postgame analysis and audio highlights.

The Anglers Media Team will also provide extensive coverage of the team on our website and social media, specifically on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Youtube and Instagram. Don’t forget to like the team on Facebook and follow on Twitter to stay up-to-date with all of the latest on the Anglers. Photo and video content will be readily available on Flickr and Youtube, respectively, following every game.

Audio highlights and interviews will always be available on Soundcloud after the game.

We love connecting with listeners and fans of the A’s on our various social media sites, and as always, feel free to send us an email at chathambroadcast@gmail.com with any questions or comments you might have. Thank you for welcoming us back to Chatham for another season calling Anglers baseball. We’re excited to spend the summer talking about this amazing game with all of you.

Sincerely,

Cooper Boardman and Josh Schaefer
