With the 2022 college baseball season approaching its midway point and the MLB season underway, the Anglers Media Team will be providing weekly updates on various players from previous seasons, with a focus on last summer's team. Here's a look at how players have fared thus far in 2022.

Spencer Torkelson (2018-19)

After a quick ascension through the Tigers' minor league system, Detroit general manager Al Avila announced Sunday that Torkelson made the team's Opening Day roster. The Arizona State product played 31 games with the Single-A West Michigan Whitecaps, 50 games with the Double-A Erie Seawolves and 40 with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens in 2021.

Torkelson was the first overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft after two seasons in Chatham. At first base and outfield, 'Tork' batted .343 in 31 total games, including 10 home runs, 32 RBIs and 25 walks in 2018 as the Anglers advanced to the Cape Cod League Championship before losing to Wareham. He returned for a five-game stint in 2019.

Kade Bragg (2021)

Bragg committed to Texas Tech last November before his second season of junior college baseball. This spring, the Weatherford College lefty has a 6-1 record and 3.00 ERA through 10 starts. Bragg has thrown two complete games and struck out seven or more batters in four of his last five starts.

Bragg only spent a week with the Anglers in late July of 2021. He pitched in relief in four contests, picking up two saves and striking out three batters in three total innings of work.

Caden Grice (2021)

Grice has made a name for himself in college baseball. The second-year first baseman has a .229 batting average in 27 games with Clemson. Grice has five multi-hit performances this season, including a 3 for 4 outing on April 1 against NC State. The Greer, S.C. native led the Tigers in 2021 with a 1.045 OPS and 53 RBIs.

Grice played nine games with the Anglers last season. He hit two home runs with three RBIs. Grice is the 15th ranked prospect in the 2023 MLB Draft by Perfect Game.

Maxwell Romero Jr. (2021)

After spending his sophomore season at Vanderbilt, Romero Jr. transferred to Miami over the offseason. In 28 games so far with the Hurricanes, Romero Jr. has recorded 22 hits, seven more than he throughout the entire 2020-21 season with the Commodores. At catcher, he had a 97.6% fielding percentage, with a total of four home runs on the year.

Romero Jr. played with the Anglers for 27 games last season, the sixth-most on the team. He recorded 24 hits, including six home runs with a 0.822 OPS. He was also drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 38th round of the 2019 MLB Draft.

Nolan McLean (2021)

McLean has become a versatile weapon at Oklahoma State, where he has played infield and outfield positions while also serving as an occasional designated hitter and pitcher. McLean plays under Josh Holliday ' the son of Chatham manager Tom Holliday ' with the Cowboys. The 6-foot-3 sophomore has started in 28 games this season, compiling a .238 batting average while also pitching nine innings. He's given up seven hits and five earned runs.

The Willow Springs, North Carolina native is currently ranked the 46th-best prospect, according to mlb.com. Last season, McLean hit .263 with eight home runs and 20 RBIs in 39 games started.
