Chatham announces beat writers for 2022 season

CHATHAM, Mass. ' The Chatham Athletic Association announced additions to its Media Team Wednesday.

Connor Smith and Anish Vasudevan, both sophomores at Syracuse University in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, will serve as Chatham's beat writers for the upcoming Cape Cod Baseball League season.

"Connor and Anish embody the best of journalism ' intelligent, thoughtful reporters with penetrating and creative storytelling instincts," CAA Media Consultant Dan D'Uva said. 'Their experiences at The Daily Orange and the Newhouse School have prepared them well for a summer of informing and entertaining Anglers fans. We're proud to have Connor and Anish strengthen the pipeline between Syracuse and Chatham.'

Chatham has hired eight beat writers from SU in the last five years.

Smith and Vasudevan will produce digital and written content for Chatham's website, social media platforms, game-day stat sheets and other publications. They will write previews and game stories for each Anglers contest along with feature articles throughout the season.

2022 Schedule

Additionally, Jake Klein, a junior at the Loomis Chaffee School, returns as a Media Team assistant. He will support the group's efforts in audio and video production, statistical research and graphic design.

'Jake was an indispensable part of our Media Team last summer, and we are glad to have his contributions again this year,' D'Uva said. 'His diligence, growth and blossoming creativity, will enhance the work of our whole team.'

Smith, Vasudevan and Klein join broadcasters Joe Puccio and Ian Unsworth on Chatham's 2022 Media Team. The Anglers' first game is Sunday, June 12, against Cotuit.

Connor Smith | Syracuse University

Smith, an Arlington, Virginia native, is a sophomore studying broadcast and digital journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He's also pursuing a minor in political science. Smith is the sports editor of The Daily Orange, the independent student newspaper at SU, and has covered football and softball while also writing off-beat features. He spent last summer as a video intern for Voice of America, a government-owned broadcaster that produces content directed at an international audience.






Anish Vasudevan | Syracuse University

Vasudevan, a San Jose, California native, is a sophomore studying magazine, news and digital journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He's also pursuing a minor in economics. Vasudevan is an assistant sports editor with The Daily Orange, the independent student newspaper at SU, and has covered football, men's and women's lacrosse and volleyball. He also writes biweekly album reviews for The Daily Orange and spent the end of last summer covering Syracuse football training camp.






Jake Klein | The Loomis Chaffee School

A lifelong Chatham summer resident originally from Southborough, Massachusetts, Klein attends the Loomis Chaffee School where he calls baseball, basketball, football, hockey, lacrosse, soccer and volleyball. He's the sports editor of the school's newspaper, The Loomis Chaffee Log. Additionally, Klein serves as producer and co-host of 'It Means History's' CBB 365 podcast and assists in MaxPreps' coverage of New England prep school sports.
