Chatham, Mass. ' The Chatham Anglers have released the team's 2022 roster, including permanent and temporary players. The roster, which the club will update through the start of the season, features athletes from 21 states representing 35 colleges and universities.

Nine players return from the 2021 team, including five from the ACC: Clemson's Caden Grice, Georgia Tech's Jake DeLeo and Kevin Parada, Miami's Maxwell Romero, Jr. and North Carolina's Johnny Castagnozzi will play their second summers in Chatham. Manager Tom Holliday, who began his CCBL tenure in 2018, returns for his fourth season leading the Anglers.

Of the ACC returnees, Parada had the most noteworthy season. The Golden Spikes semifinalist broke the Georgia Tech single-season home run record with 26 regular season round-trips. The draft-eligible sophomore is widely projected as a first-round selection in the upcoming MLB Draft.

Grice and incoming ECU left-handed pitcher Carson Whisenhunt are also names with draft buzz. Grice, a first baseman eligible in 2023, was listed as one of the top-15 players in college baseball by Perfect Game coming into the 2022 season. Whisenhunt, eligible in 2022 was named a preseason first-team All-American by four different publications, and ranked by CBS Sports as the top lefty in the country.

Other returners are Tulane left-handed pitcher Dylan Carmouche, BYU left-handed pitcher Cy Nielsen, Northeastern right-handed pitcher Sebastian Keane and West Virginia right-handed pitcher Jacob Watters.

The A's also added three newcomers from No. 9 Oklahoma State. Infielders Marcus Brown, Aidan Meola and Roc Riggio will join Chatham after successful seasons under the tutelage of Josh Holliday, son of Tom and head coach of the Cowboys.

Tom Holliday has also tapped the junior college ranks for arms, recruiting six different pitchers who completed years at the JUCO level. Righty Matthew Peters, from Ivy Tech Community College in Fort Wayne, In., has a fastball clocked at 101 miles per hour.

This group of 44 players attempts to bring the Anglers back to the playoffs after a 16-19-3 record and a fourth-place finish in the Cape League's East Division in 2021.

Chatham begins its season against Cotuit at Veterans Field on June 12 at 7 p.m. Each of the club's 44 games will be broadcast live on the Cape Cod Baseball Network, with the Anglers Extra Pregame Show beginning coverage 20 minutes before first pitch.

Chatham's Cape Cod Baseball League team dates to 1923, and has been known as the Anglers since 2010. The Cape Cod Baseball League's modern era began in 1963, but traces its roots to 1885.
