Reunion broadcast, flyover to take place on July 9

Guy Benson and Dan D'Uva will return to the booth during Chatham's First Responders and Coast Guard Appreciation Night on July 9. The pair will celebrate the 20th season of their 2003 inaugural broadcasts. Benson and D'Uva last held a reunion broadcast in 2017.

'Guy and I are so fortunate that the Chatham Athletic Association welcomed us 20 years ago and we're just as honored to continue a connection with the team,' D'Uva said. 'Calling games with Guy in Chatham was one of the best experiences in my career.'

The toughest aspect of starting the broadcast was working up the courage to approach the CAA when they were still students at Ridgewood High School. 'We were just very blessed that there were people in those positions that said yes,' Benson said.

Benson and D'Uva held their first reunion broadcast in 2012, returning the mic again five seasons ago in what would be manager John Schiffner's final season. Benson said calling a Chatham game simultaneously feels familiar and 'foreign.'

'I take five year hiatuses from baseball play-by-play,' Benson said. 'Then I return to the booth, which is exciting but also a little scary.'

The flyover event will also start at 6:30 p.m, bringing members of the Coast Guard, local police and fire departments on the field. A Sikorsky MH-60 Jayhawk will fly over Veterans Field before a 3-man first pitch featuring first responders.
