Chatham's offensive transformation has come full circle.

It was Orleans which no-hit the Anglers on July 29 and then shut out Chatham again four days later. And it was Donye Evans who had held the Anglers scoreless through nine innings this season.

On Thursday, Chatham righted all of its wrongs, tagging Evans with two runs during his three innings on the mound and tallying eight hits in a 6-3 win at Veterans Field.

'We kept the pressure on them,' Anglers manager Tom Holliday said. 'They knew we were in the ballpark to play. I think this time of the year, you can almost look across the field and sense whether a team's gonna come at you or not, and our guys kept saying, 'Let's go. They're done.''

Guy Garibay Jr. has led the Anglers' surge at the plate, recording nine RBIs and four extra-base hits over his past five games. On Thursday, he signaled the start of another productive night for Chatham's offense, hammering a two-run homer onto Depot Road in the bottom of the third.

'When Garibay gets that two-run home run, it was just like, 'Here we go again,'' Holliday said. 'You could feel it.'

After knocking Evans out of the contest, Chatham (11-17-7) turned its attention to Kyle Carr in the bottom of the fourth. The left-hander retired Roc Riggio and Cooper Ingle as the first two batters he faced, but the next five reached safely, leading to a three-run inning.

Caden Grice started the rally, roping a double past Isaac Humphrey in right field. On a 3-1 count, Lyle Miller-Green punched a hard ground ball through the left side of the infield, sending Grice home standing.

Johnny Castagnozzi then lined a single to right field for Chatham's third consecutive hit. Castagnozzi finished 2 for 3 with two runs and a walk. He praised Rusty Greer, who joined the Anglers as their hitting coach midway through the season, for his success.

'We've been working on some stuff here and there, it's kinda just a mental thing, talking about approach and stuff like that,' Castagnozzi said.

After Miller-Green scored on a passed ball, Alex Ulloa plated Castagnozzi with an infield single to shortstop Nik McClaughry, who backhanded the ball deep in the five-hole but decided against making a throw.

Miller-Green drove in his second run of the game in the next inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Miller-Green tapped a soft ground ball to JD Urso, who flipped to second base for an out as Riggio crossed home to put Chatham ahead 6-2.

With the backing of his offense, Owen Stevenson earned the win in his first start with the Anglers. He allowed two runs on three hits and a walk over five innings.

Orleans (13-18-4) jumped on Stevenson early as Humphrey drove an RBI double over center fielder Jake DeLeo's head in the top of the first, but the right-hander didn't allow another hit until the fifth inning.

While Ulloa logged his first RBI with the Anglers, Holliday replaced him with Marcus Brown at shortstop after he miscommunited with DeLeo on a pop-up in shallow center field in the top of the sixth, leading to Orleans' second run.

Ben Hampton earned the save after setting the Firebirds down in order in the ninth. It was the second consecutive game that Holliday turned to Hampton ' whom he called 'our guy that we trust the most' ' in the ninth inning.

Thursday's win was Chatham's fifth in a row. The Anglers remain in last in the East Division after Harwich's 7-3 win over Brewster, but Chatham is now within a point of both Harwich and Orleans for fourth in the division, and a playoff spot.
