Chatham’s home contest with Cotuit on Saturday has been suspended due to fog. For the second straight day, the Anglers were unable to start as fog settled into Veterans Field and failed to dissipate. On Friday, Chatham’s home contest against Orleans was suspended for player safety, because of poor visibility, and the A’s competed in an intrasquad home run derby.
The Anglers have not played a game since Monday, July 3, and sit in last place in the East Division with a record of 6–13–1. Cotuit’s record of 16–7–0 didn’t just sit them atop the West Division heading into Saturday’s affair. The Kettleers lead the entire Cape Cod Baseball League with wins (16) and are second in run differential (24).
On Sunday, Chatham is scheduled to take on Harwich at Whitehouse Field at 5:30 p.m. The last time they matched up, the Anglers won 10–6. Gabe Davis was the A’s expected starter Saturday, and is still the probable pitcher for their showdown against the Mariners.
