The Chatham Athletic Association today announced a change in on-field leadership. Assistant coach Marty Lees has been named acting manager of the Chatham Anglers for the remainder of the 2023 season. Lees replaces Tom Holliday,
who resigned Tuesday due to personal health concerns. Holliday had been Chatham’s manager since 2018.
Lees joined Chatham as an assistant coach ahead of the 2023 season. Lees, a graduate of Western Oregon University, spent 20 years as a Division-I baseball coach. Lees served as manager at Washington State from 2016-2019. He also served on coaching staffs at both Oregon State and Oklahoma State. Lees helped lead the Beavers to consecutive NCAA National Championships in 2006 and 2007.
“Marty brings great baseball experience to his role with the Chatham Anglers," said general manager Mike Geylin. "He has been around the present group of players since they arrived for the 2023 season, which will help make it a smooth transition so everyone involved can concentrate on playing baseball and getting the most rewarding experience possible from their summer in Chatham.”
Lees’ first game as acting manager is today in Bourne when the Anglers play the Braves at 6 p.m.
