Arquette, Larson, Irish, Van Emon named CCBL All-Stars
Four Chatham players were selected to the Eastern Division roster for the 2024 CCBL All-Star Game. The game will be held at Falmouth’s Guv Fuller Field on July 27.

Shortstop Aiva Arquette and outfielder Ashton Larson (LSU) are Chatham’s lone starters, while catcher Ike Irish (Auburn) and left-handed pitcher Gabe Van Emon (UConn) were named reserves.

Arquette has been a mainstay at shortstop for the Anglers this summer. He’s played in 25 of Chatham’s 28 games, providing elite infield defense while also showing off his power. Arquette’s three home runs are the most of any active Chatham player while his 18 RBIs also lead the Anglers. The righty has a .774 OPS and holds a slugging percentage of .420.

Larson wasn’t a day one player, but quickly established himself as a mainstay in Chatham’s outfield due to his bat. The lefty isn’t much of a power hitter, but his overall hitting skills have earned him a spot toward the top of the Anglers lineup. Larson’s .300 batting average is the best mark among current Anglers. He’s produced 21 hits and has driven in eight RBIs across 19 games. On July 12 against Brewster, he registered four base knocks and drove in a season-high three runs.

Irish will be the backup catcher for the All-Star game behind Brewster’s Ryder Helfrick. The Auburn product has been Chatham’s ironman, playing in all but one of the Anglers games so far this season. Though he hasn’t shown off his true power, Irish has displayed his ability to get on base in unique ways with his uncanny speed. Irish leads the Anglers in total hits (28) and has driven in nine runs. The catcher has accumulated a .801 OPS while reaching base at a .412 rate.

Another non-day one player, Van Emon has provided Chatham with an elite lefty arm out of the bullpen. He’s tossed 9.1 innings across just three games, recording a 1.93 ERA. Van Emon has held hitters to a .133 batting average while striking out 12 batters. He’s allowed three just four hits and two earned runs across his outings with the Anglers. In Van Emon’s second appearance, he produced a 3.2-inning save against Brewster, helping Chatham defeat the Whitecaps 9-6 on July 12.
