Jeremy “Sheets” Sheetinger Resigns as Anglers Manager
Citing personal reasons, Jeremy “Sheets” Sheetinger has resigned from his position as manager of the Chatham Anglers effective immediately.

He will be replaced on an interim basis by Eric Beattie, the team’s pitching coach.

In his first Cape Cod Baseball League season, Sheetinger managed the Anglers to a 16-15 record, good for second place in the Eastern Division.

“Sheets' goals in joining the Anglers were to instill a spirit of joy in playing winning baseball while further integrating the team as a positive force within the community,” said Mike Geylin, Anglers general manager. “The success on the field as well as the actions his coaching staff and players exhibited during all the community activities in which they enthusiastically participated are evidence of his success.

“We wish him the best.”

Steve West, Chatham Athletic Association President, echoed Geylin's comments and added, “Our entire organization wishes Sheets well and thanks him for the many positive things he accomplished both on and off the field in his short tenure with our organization.”

Sheetinger's resignation letter:

Wearing CHATHAM across my chest has been nothing short of one of the most amazing opportunities in my coaching career. I hold your Association up in the very highest regard and always will.

But this appointment, time commitment and family strain has proved to be too much for my household.

With this letter, I regret to inform you that I must resign as manager of the Chatham Anglers effective immediately due to family reasons.

I have been fighting this for the past few weeks but with my daughter, my wife being alone back home without any help on top of issues arising within our standing home, I have to put down the baseball hat and be there as a husband and father.

We will be following along, watching every pitch and pulling for you all to actualize our goal of reaching the playoffs. Wishing everyone in the organization the very best and good luck!
