PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
s you’ve seen from the cover photo on this Souvenir Yearbook, 2023 is a very
special year for the Chatham Anglers and for the Cape Cod Baseball League
A(CCBL). The CCBL was founded 100 years ago, with Chatham as one of the four
original teams. We will celebrate these centennial anniversaries in various ways this
summer as we bring you another season of exciting and excellent college baseball at
Chatham’s Veterans Field.
This yearbook contains information on our 2023 Chatham Angler players, coaches, and
support staff. It also thanks our 700+ boosters for their generosity and recognizes the
many other individuals, local businesses, civic organizations, and the Town of Chatham
personnel who provide support to our organization. This yearbook also thanks our
volunteers, interns, host families, post-game meal donors, bat boys and others, all of
whom are essential for us to bring our fans another first-class, Chatham Anglers summer of baseball at Veterans Field.
Speaking of Veterans Field, over the last 10 years we have coordinated with the Town of Chatham to make many
enhancements to improve your game day experience. These enhancements include installing new field lights (2014),
a new press box scoreboard (2016), a new outfield scoreboard (2019), a new bleacher system (2019), and an improved
backstop safety netting system (2022). Our generous donors played a huge role in making all these improvements a
reality. We’re biased, but we believe Veterans Field is the finest baseball venue on Cape Cod.
We are excited about the 2023 baseball season, the Anglers fifth season under the tutelage of manager Tom Holliday.
Tom and his experienced staff are bringing a talented group of players from across the country to Chatham, players
who hope to shine on the CCBL stage as they pursue their dreams of reaching the major leagues. There are currently
over 30 former Anglers in the major leagues, including 2022 World Series MVP Jeremy Pena (2017), 2022 starting All-
Star game pitcher Alek Manoah (2018) and the #1 draft pick in the 2020 draft, Spencer Torkelson (2018-9).
So, whether you’re a long-time Angler fan, a first-time visitor, or fit somewhere in between, we hope you have
a wonderful Veterans Field experience, one that provides you with great summer memories! When you attend an
Anglers game at Veterans Field be sure to experience all we have to offer. Browse our merchandise booth to purchase
Angler logo gear, visit our concession stand to indulge in our wide array of delectable items, enter our 50/50 raffle to
win great prizes & cash, and please donate generously when you arrive or when we ‘pass the hat’ through the stands. If
you’re unable to attend any Anglers games you can follow the action live (home & away) on our ChathamAnglers.com
website broadcast and/or on our numerous other social media platforms.
The Chatham Athletic Association is very appreciative and thankful for your Chatham Anglers patronage and support.
Have a great summer!
