CHATHAM ANGLERS POSITION PLAYERS 2019
KENDRICK CALILAO - FLORIDA
(OF/3B) B-T – R-R / 6’0- 205 LBS.
Kendrick Calilao became a staple in the Gators starting lineup as a freshman in 2019. He was among the top freshman positional
players in the country in 2019. His batting average was around .300 for a majority of the season and he had driven in 40 RBIs at
the time of printing. The youngest of three siblings, Calilao chose to play his collegiate baseball at the University of Florida due
its close proximity to his hometown of Kissimmee, Florida. On February 24, with his family in attendance, he celebrated his 19th
birthday by going 3-for-4 with a home run to clinch a series win over Miami.
COOPER DAVIS - VANDERBILT
(OF) B-T – R-L / 5’10-175 LBS.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Cooper Davis becomes the second Canadian to play for Chatham in the last three seasons. He was
a vital piece of the Commodores starting lineup in 2019 after appearing in just nine games as a freshman. He quickly emerged
as a reliable left fielder and leadoff hitter as a sophomore, boasting a flawless fielding percentage and an above .330 batting
average. Davis has a good eye at the plate and will bring a lot of hustle to the Anglers line-up. He was drafted in the 25th round
of the 2017 MLB Draft by his hometown Toronto Blue Jays, but instead decided to play his collegiate baseball in Nashville after
competing for the Canadian Junior National Team.
ADAN FERNANDEZ - FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL
(OF) B-T – R-R / 6’3-225 LBS.
Adan Fernandez has been an important everyday player for the Panthers since 2018 when he hit 10 home runs as a freshman. He
is expected to bring power to the Anglers bullpen. He played his prep baseball just 35 minutes from FIU at Archbishop McCarthy,
and hit .398 as a senior to lead the program to its third consecutive Florida state championship. He is expected to add some power
to the Anglers line-up.
SAUL GARZA - LSU
(C) B-T – R-R / 6’3-225 LBS.
Saul Garza transferred to LSU after batting .378 with 23 home runs at Howard Junior College in 2018. He quickly became a leader
and an important defensive piece for the Tigers, appearing in a majority of LSU’s games and serving as a reliable backstop in
2019. Knee surgery quelled the power of his bat through the first several months of the season, but his hitting trended upward
at the end of April. Garza brings strong defensive skills to the catching position.
COLIN HALL - GEORGIA TECH
(OF) B-T – L-R / 5’11-190 LBS.
Colin Hall returns to the Cape League after playing for Hyannis in 2018. He is one of five Georgia Tech products to join the Anglers
in the last two years. He’s been an instrumental player for Yellow Jackets over the course of the past two seasons, appearing in
over 100 games, batting over .300 in his career, and establishing a strong defensive presence in the outfield. He’s spent the last
two seasons playing with his brother, Carter, and playing for his father, Danny, who just completed his 26th season as Georgia
Tech’s head coach.
BEN RAMIREZ - USC
(3B), B-T – R-R / 6’3 – 180 LBS.
Ben Ramirez joins the Anglers for a second consecutive season after playing in 37 games for Chatham in 2018. He served as the
Anglers’ starting third baseman and was a vital piece of the team’s deepest postseason run since 2001. Alongside former Anglers
Blake Sabol, Ramirez has been a key contributor at USC over the course of the past two seasons. His batting average hovered
around .300 as a sophomore in 2019, while spending most of the season batting in the middle of the order and playing the middle
infield positions.
