HAYDN KING - UNLV
(LHP), B-T – L-L, HT. – WT., 6’2 - 215 LBS.
Haydn King transferred from the University of San Francisco to UNLV after last spring. Due to the transfer, he was required to red-
shirt this past season. In 2018, the left-hander made 11 appearances with the Dons, highlighted by a season-high in strike outs at
second-ranked Stanford. Haydn was drafted in 2017 in the 39th Round by the Oakland Athletics. King pitched for the Walla Walla
Sweets of West Coast League for the summers 2017 and 2018. In the summer of 20018 he had 45 Ks in 33 IPs. He has been used as
both a starter and reliever. King comes from an extensive athletic family. Haydn’s father, Matthew, played baseball collegiately
at Cal and Cal Poly, while his mother, Donya, was an All-American swimmer at San Jose State.
KOLBY KUBICHEK - TEXAS
(RHP), B-T – R-R / 6’0 – 170 LBS.
Kolby Kubichek joins teammate Ty Madden in being recruited to Chatham as Tom Holliday’s first pitchers from the University of
Texas during his tenure as the Anglers’ Manager. (Holliday served as the Longhorns’ pitching coach on their 2005 National Cham-
pionship team). In limited action as a freshman, the right-hander was used as a reliever in less than 20 innings of work. In high
school, Kubichek played shortstop, right field and pitched.
TY MADDEN - TEXAS
(RHP), B-T – R-R / 6’2 – 210 LBS.
Ty Madden recently completed his freshman season for the University of Texas. He has three pitches he can throw for strikes.
They include a fastball that can reach into the mid 90’s, a hard slider in the low 80’s and a fading change-up in the 78-82 M.P.H.
range. Madden appeared as starter and reliever for the Longhorns in 2019. Over the long haul Madden very much projects as a
starter. He was selected in the 34th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals. Had Madden not had such a strong
commitment to pitch for the Longhorns he would have been selected quite a bit higher. At the time of printing Madden had 4-1
record with a 3.26 ERA.
JACK OWEN - AUBURN
(LHP), B-T – L-R, HT. – WT., 6’2 – 175 LBS.
After fellow Auburn Tiger, Davis Daniel helped bolster the A’s pitching staff in 2018, Jack Owen looks to do the same in 2019.
Daniel had plenty of success in the summer 2018, and his Auburn teammate Owen comes to Chatham after a spring in which he
had an ERA that was less than 1.00 and held hitters to less than a .100 batting average. Owen was the number two pitcher in the
state of California coming out of high school at JSerra Catholic.
